Mycelarium is a meditative incremental game by PLAN KAPKAN where you grow a fungal network, and the upgrade tree is where that growth turns permanent. Nobody outside the studio has the numbers yet, so this page does one job properly: it maps every node, its place in the tree and how it looks on screen, and it says plainly where the answers stop.

How many nodes are in the Mycelarium upgrade tree?

There are 26 nodes in the tree on the official Steam screenshot, not counting the root at the top. Verified They split into three branches plus one node that belongs to none of them:

Branch Nodes First node
Hyphae 6 Shot Range
Fruiting Bodies 13 Spore Mushroom and Predator Mushroom
Enzymes 6 Absorption
Symbiosis (stand-alone) 1 Symbiosis

Select any node on the map to see what sits above and below it. Nothing on the map carries a cost or an effect, because none has been published.

The map is wider than the page. Scroll sideways, or use the node list under it.

Select a node to see where it sits in the tree. Costs and effects have not been announced.

  • Gold ring, colored icon : Spore Mushroom, Absorption
  • Glowing white ring : Shot Range
  • Hollow circle : Budding Chance, Absorption Yield
  • Grey mushroom icon : Predator Mushroom
  • Padlock icon : Shot Width, Water Efficiency, Node Efficiency, Soil Penetration, Spore Count, Spore Quality, Repeller Mushroom, Spore Lightness, Repeller Charges, Repeller Regen Cost, Tree Mushroom, Digestion Speed, Predator Yield, Tree Water Yield, Tree Drop Rate, Absorption Speed, Parasitism, Parasitism Speed, Parasitism Yield, Symbiosis

Appearance only. The game has not explained what the rings, icons or red numbers mean.

The words HYPHAE, FRUITING BODIES and ENZYMES on the screen are labels, not nodes. Fruiting Bodies is one label shared by two starting nodes, which is why it holds 13 nodes in two subtrees: seven under Spore Mushroom and six under Predator Mushroom. Verified

What does the upgrade screen look like?

The screen is titled UPGRADES and shows a POINTS counter (1 in the screenshot), a RECENTRE button and a CLOSE button. The footer hints read: drag to pan, wheel to zoom, click a node to grow it. Verified

The star counter in the game HUD probably matches the POINTS number on this screen, since the values line up across screenshots. Inferred How a star or a Point is earned is not announced. Not announced

What are the Hyphae, Fruiting Bodies and Enzymes branches?

Hyphae (6 nodes)

Hyphae is the branch that starts at Shot Range and fans out into Budding Chance, Shot Width and Water Efficiency, with Node Efficiency under Budding Chance and Soil Penetration under Water Efficiency. Verified The Steam feature list names six improvements: range, width, water efficiency, node cost, budding chance and soil penetration. Verified Those match the six Hyphae nodes by name, and “node cost” is most likely the node called Node Efficiency. Inferred The details are on the Hyphae upgrades page.

Fruiting Bodies (13 nodes)

Spore Mushroom leads to Spore Count, Spore Quality and Repeller Mushroom, and Predator Mushroom leads to Tree Mushroom, Digestion Speed and Predator Yield. Verified The Demo 2.0 patch notes say the Repeller mushroom was unlocked to deal with the sneaky hedgehog, which matches the Repeller Mushroom node by name. Verified Read the hedgehog guide for what is known about that threat.

Enzymes (6 nodes)

Enzymes starts at Absorption, which leads to Absorption Speed and Absorption Yield, and Absorption Yield leads to Parasitism with its own Speed and Yield nodes. Verified Node-by-node placement for Fruiting Bodies and Enzymes is on the Fruiting Bodies and Enzymes page.

What does the Symbiosis node do?

Symbiosis is the 26th node and the odd one out. It hangs off the root by a thin grey line, belongs to none of the three branch labels, and shows a padlock in the screenshot. Verified What it does, what it costs and what unlocks it are all unknown. Not announced Treat any guide that explains Symbiosis before release as a guess.

What do the red numbers and rings on the nodes mean?

Nodes appear in five different looks in the screenshot. The map’s legend lists every node under each look. The ones worth noting:

  • Shot Range has a glowing white ring and a red number 2.
  • Budding Chance and Absorption Yield are hollow circles with a red number 2.
  • Predator Mushroom is a grey mushroom icon with a red number 3.
  • Spore Mushroom and Absorption have a gold ring and a colored icon.
  • The other 19 nodes, Symbiosis included, show a padlock.

That is the whole of what we can state. Verified The developer has not said what rings, gold or red numbers mean, so this wiki never writes a red number as a cost. It is tempting to read them as a Point price next to a POINTS counter showing 1, but that is a guess, and a wrong cost is worse than none. Not announced

Is the Demo upgrade tree the same as the full tree?

No. In third-party footage of the Demo recorded before Demo 2.0, the tree was visibly smaller than the full one on the Steam page. Observed in Demo That clip comes from Gloworm’s Demo video and the Demo has been patched since. Which nodes the current Demo contains has not been published.

Is there a best upgrade order?

Not yet. A sensible order depends on what each node costs and does, and neither is public. Until then the useful questions are the ones you can answer in play: what you are short of, food or water (resources guide), and which problem you are solving. The beginner guide covers the first runs, and the FAQ lists the open questions.

This page will be rechecked after the planned November 3, 2026 launch. Verified Until real numbers can be tested, it will keep stating what is not known.

FAQ

How many upgrades are in the Mycelarium upgrade tree?
The official Steam screenshot shows 26 nodes: Hyphae 6, Fruiting Bodies 13, Enzymes 6 and one stand-alone Symbiosis node. The three branch names are text labels, not extra nodes. The full release may change the tree.
What do the red numbers on the upgrade nodes mean?
Not announced. Red numbers 2 and 3 appear next to four nodes in the official screenshot, and the developer has not explained them. This wiki does not treat them as costs.
What does the Symbiosis upgrade do in Mycelarium?
Not announced. Symbiosis is the only node that hangs straight off the root without a branch label, and it shows a padlock in the screenshot. Its function has not been described anywhere official.
Is the Demo upgrade tree the same as the full tree?
No. A third-party Demo video recorded before Demo 2.0 showed a smaller tree than the one on the Steam screenshot. Which of the 26 nodes the current Demo 2.0 includes has not been published.
How do you earn upgrade Points in Mycelarium?
Not announced. The upgrade screen shows a POINTS counter, and the HUD has a star counter that probably matches it, but the developer has not said how Points are earned or what the star counts.
What is the best upgrade order in Mycelarium?
There is no official guidance, and costs and effects are unpublished, so any ranking would be invented. Check back after the planned November 3, 2026 release, when real numbers can be tested.
